Booking and Payment
How do I book a room / accommodation?
You can book a room on our website in the “Rooms” section. Each accommodation has its own booking calendar, where you can check available dates.
Can I make a reservation by phone or email?
I recommend booking through the website first and foremost, but reservations can of course also be made by phone or email. In that case, I will send the invoice by email.
What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay for your online booking using the most common debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, or by direct bank transfer. For reservations made by phone or email, I will send the invoice by email. On site, additional services and handicrafts can be paid for in cash or by debit or credit card.
When is the payment charged?
When booking through the reservation calendar, the payment is charged immediately. In invoice cases, the payment term is 7 days. More detailed information can be found in Booking and Cancellation Terms.
Will I receive a confirmation for my booking?
Yes. Once you have paid for your booking, you will receive a booking confirmation and a receipt by email, along with the booking and cancellation terms.
What are the cancellation and changing terms?
Any cancellations or changes must always be communicated to Mattilan talo, preferably in writing, for example by email.
The customer may cancel a one-night reservation free of charge at least 3 days before the start date of the booking. Cancellations made less than 3 days before the start of the reservation are non-refundable, unless the room can be rebooked.
For longer stays, the customer may cancel free of charge at least 15 days before the start date of the reservation. After that, we will charge 50% of the booking value for any nights that cannot be rebooked.
If a guest cancels a reservation for multiple nights less than 15 days before the start of the booking, and the room cannot be rebooked, the full amount of the reservation will be charged.
Check-in and Check-out
When does check-in start and end?
Check-in is between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Please inform us in advance if you will arrive later: info@mattilantalo.fi / +358451665534.
What is the latest check-out time?
The guest must return the key and check out by 11:00 AM at the latest.
Is late check-in possible?
Yes. I hope guests can check in between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM on the day of arrival, but if you arrive later, please contact me by phone +358451665534 or by email info@mattilantalo.fi.
Can I leave early in the morning?
Yes. Just let me know well in advance, and we’ll agree on a time so you can still enjoy breakfast before your departure.
Rooms and Accommodation
How many people can stay in a room?
Taivaskamari: two persons (+ one child aged 0–2 who sleeps in the same double bed)
Peräkamari: sleeping space for four adults and one child (+ one infant aged 0–2 per double bed who sleeps in the same bed)
Toinen kamari: two persons (+ one infant aged 0–2 who sleeps in the same sofa bed) as well as 1–2 dogs depending on their size.
Do the rooms have private bathrooms?
No. Mattilan talo is a large detached house with one shared shower and sauna area indoors. You can book your shower time upon arrival. There are three shared toilets available for guests—one upstairs and one located in the shower dressing room.
Are bed linens and towels included in the price?
Yes.
Do the rooms have a TV / WiFi?
Only the “Toinen kamari” room has a TV. Mattilan talo provides WiFi—please ask for the password upon arrival.
Are the rooms non-smoking?
Yes. Smoking is only allowed in a designated outdoor area.
Is it allowed to consume alcohol on the premises?
No. Mattilan talo is a completely alcohol- and drug-free accommodation. Guests are therefore not allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages or other intoxicants onto the premises, nor to be under the influence of such substances.
Are there separate family rooms?
Peräkamari has an extra bed for two in a pull-out sofa bed. The room also includes a children’s bed. Altogether, Peräkamari can accommodate four full-size guests, one child, and additionally two infants aged 0–2 if they sleep in the double beds.
Breakfast and Other Services
Is breakfast included in the price?
Yes. Breakfast is included in the room price.
What time is breakfast served?
Breakfast is served between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM. Upon arrival at Mattilan talo, you can let me know what time you would like to have breakfast, and I will prepare it accordingly. If you need to check out early, you can also request an earlier breakfast.
Are special dietary requirements accommodated?
If you have any special dietary requirements or allergies, please let me know immediately after making your room reservation so I can prepare accordingly. Gluten-free and vegan breakfasts are available, as long as I receive the information well in advance.
Is there a shared kitchen / coffee maker available?
Unfortunately, Mattilan talo does not have a shared kitchen. However, Peräkamari is equipped with a refrigerator and a kettle.
Is there a sauna, yard, barbecue area, etc.?
Mattilan talo offers two saunas that can be booked: a modern electric sauna and a cozy outdoor sauna. You can find more information and booking prices from our Additional Services page.
The yard is spacious and well suited for outdoor games. You can borrow equipment from us, such as Mölkky and badminton rackets. For younger guests, there is a small playhouse as well as a trampoline and an AirTrack mat. On winter nights, you can admire the northern lights in the yard.
Guests have access to a gas grill and a Muurikka pan.
We also lend bicycles, a rowing boat, and a SUP board.
Location and Arrival
Where is the guesthouse located?
Mattilan talo is located in a small village called Impiö, about 40 km from Ranua in the direction of Posio. The distance from Mattila to the center of Posio is approximately 55 km.
Our address is Impiöntie 32a, 97765 Impiö. For example, Google Maps will easily guide you to Mattilan talo.
How can I get there by public transport?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to reach the village of Impiö by public transport. You can get to the center of Ranua by bus, but from there you will need your own or a rental car to reach Mattilan talo, or you can take a taxi from Ranua.
Is parking available? Is it free?
Parking is available in the yard at Mattilan talo, with space for several cars. Parking is free of charge.
Is electric vehicle charging available?
Unfortunately, there is no possibility to charge electric vehicles in the yard at Mattilan talo. The nearest charging stations can be found in the center of Ranua: at the S-Market (Keskustie 1, 97700 Ranua) and at Ranua Wildlife Park (Rovaniementie 29, 97700 Ranua).
How far are shops and attractions?
The center of Ranua is about 40 km away. There you will find grocery stores, restaurants, a pharmacy, a service station, a biogas filling station, car repair shops, and specialty stores. Ranua Resort, including its wildlife park, is located a few kilometers from the center of Ranua in the direction of Rovaniemi.

Accessibility and Special Needs
Is the guesthouse accessible?
Unfortunately, Mattilan talo is not accessible. It is an old countryside house, and reaching the front entrance already requires climbing four steps. The upstairs rooms are only accessible via old stairs. There are also two steps leading to the shower facilities. The house does not have an elevator or ramps, and the doorways may not be wide enough for mobility aids.
Are there rooms on the ground floor?
There is one accommodation room on the ground floor, but there are four steps at the entrance of the house.
Are there handrails or a ramp on the stairs?
Both indoor and outdoor stairways have handrails. There are no ramps available.
Pets and Children
Can I bring a pet?
Dogs are welcome in the “Toinen kamari” room at Mattilan talo. A cleaning fee of 15 euros per reservation applies for a dog. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in the other accommodation rooms.
Is the guesthouse suitable for children?
Yes, the guesthouse is suitable for children! Kids enjoy the countryside setting. In summer, there is a trampoline in the yard, and the spacious outdoor area offers plenty of room to run around and play games. A small playhouse with equipment is also available for younger guests. Nearby, there is a beautiful swimming spot, and you can go rowing on the lake with children. You can borrow children’s books from the Pirtti, and there are also fun board games available.
Is a crib or high chair available?
A high chair and a junior chair are available in the Pirtti, so breakfast is easy with small children. There is no crib, but the children’s bed in Peräkamari has sides about 10 cm high.
