At Mattilan talo, you can rent a rowing boat (with or without an electric outboard motor) or a SUP board.

The large and beautiful Lake Simojärvi, with its islands and cross-country ski trails, is just a couple of kilometers away. From Lake Simojärvi, the River Simojoki flows all the way to the Bothnian Bay.

Korouoma
The 30-kilometer-long Korouoma canyon valley is located in the neighboring municipality of Posio. From Mattilan talo, it takes about half an hour to drive to the Lapiosalmi starting point. The bedrock of Korouoma is hundreds of millions of years old, and the area features numerous ponds, lakes, and small streams.
