Turn off your phone. Bring someone you’d love to spend time with.
What would it feel like to spend a weekend without constant notifications, emails, news feeds, and social media?
In mid-October, Mattilan talo will host a small and unhurried Digital Detox Retreat, where the focus is not on doing, but on simply being. During the weekend, you can read a book, play board games, walk in the forest, knit, row a boat, try paddleboarding, enjoy the outdoor sauna... or simply do nothing at all and let your thoughts wander wherever they choose.
If you wish, you can leave your phone in a locked storage box with the hostess of Mattilan talo for the duration of the retreat. This is entirely optional, but it can be helpful if you know you tend to reach for your phone without thinking.
The best Digital Detox is a shared experience
I warmly encourage you to join the retreat with a friend, partner, sibling, or another person who is important to you.
Accommodation is in double rooms. Taivaskamari, both rooms in Peräkamari, and Toinen Kamari all have double beds. Tyttöjen Huone (The Girls' Room) has two separate beds and is therefore primarily intended for guests attending on their own.
In Peräkamari, the first room serves as a walk-through room to the second. This makes the suite an excellent option for a group of four friends or two couples travelling together.
You can explore the rooms and view photos on the Rooms page and on Instagram at @mattilan_talo.
The spirit of the weekend
The most important principle at Mattilan talo is that a sense of calm, safety, and wellbeing grows from simple things: nature, meaningful conversations, an unhurried pace, and being present in the moment.
In keeping with the values of Mattilan talo, this retreat is alcohol-free and substance-free. What you'll find instead is a peaceful setting in the small but lively village of Impiö, surrounded by nature, nourishing home-cooked food, the warmth of the sauna, and an opportunity to truly recover from the noise and busyness of everyday life. A chance to simply be. A chance to give your nervous system room to slow down and settle.
